Sacred cows of India

Cows of India

Q. In one of your articles you say that most or the world’s leather comes from India. In this country the cow is sacred, so with respect, I think buying leather from there must be better than China for instance. At least they’re better treated.
Cows of India
A. So sadly, it’s these non-slaughter laws which are heightening the cruelty of cattle.

The reality (see this informative, very graphic PETA footage) is that there are Indian states which allow slaughter. So the cows are harshly treated during transportation and forced to walk for days, while being severely mistreated, before slaughter.

I'd love to hear from you...
